CHANGA

Changa is a male African Civet born in 2017.  He and his neighbor Wazi came to us in 2019 from a private facility that could no longer care for them due to health issues.  When Civets are not given enough Vitaman D they tend to have bone issues which means they cannot breed.  Since we do not breed here at Octagon, we were a good fit for a forever home.  Civets are part of the Viverridae species and are more closely related to the mongoose or weasel than a cat.  They are known for their Civetone which is a secretion of "musk" which has been used in manufacturing of perfumes.  Most companies now use a synthetic "musk" for perfumes rather than the African Civet.  Mostly nocturnal, they spend a good amount of time in their shelters, but will venture out often.

WAZI

Wazi is a male African Civet born in 2017.  Like his neighbor, Changa, He came to us in 2019 from a private facility no longer able to take care of them.  Wazi can sometimes be seen laying in his tube, even though he is mostly nocturnal.  His tail is noticeably shorter.  The vet had to do a partial removal due to a health issue.  Because they need a good source of Vitamin D for their bones, they get a bowl of milk every morning, along with vitamins on their selection of meats and fruits.

GOATS

In our pond area, we have a menagerie of animals!  Goat rescues, chickens, roosters, geese and anything else that decides to fly in for a bite to eat or a swim.  They have free range of the entire pond area with lots of places to climb and sleep.  They are fed mountains of fresh fruits and vegetables every day which they share with their pond family.
